Whether you dream of becoming the next Picasso or you simply enjoy viewing others’ art, you don’t have to commute to a big city to do what you love. Here are some well-established artsy companies that pay folks just like you to do what you love, all from the comfort of your own home.

Shutterstock

“Headquartered in New York, Shutterstock is an innovative e-commerce company and a leading provider of royalty-free videos, photos, and illustrations. With over 50 million images and videos, Shutterstock sources content from a contributor community of thousands of photographers, videographers, artists and illustrators from around the world.

What kind of work does Shutterstock offer creatives? Shutterstock needs help reviewing all those images they receive from contributors. Image Reviewers work from home around the United States and other countries, evaluating and approving submitted images according to Shutterstock’s strict acceptance standards. Once reviews are completed, Image Reviewers must submit appropriate feedback to image contributors.

Where to apply: To view available openings for Image Reviewers, Vector & Illustration Reviewers and other creative positions, visit Shutterstock’s Career Page.

Yandiki

Yandiki is a new generation staffing company specialized in providing curated creative talent on demand and via a cloud-based platform which allows for full transparency of remote work.”

Although Yandiki isn’t solely an art company, they do help pair companies to remote creative talent from across the globe. They fill their clients vacancies in Graphic Design, Multimedia, Writing, Web Development, Language Translation, and more.

Where to apply: You may view their entire range of artsy openings by category by visiting Yandiki’s Job Board.

CanStock Photo

Can Stock Photo is one of the world’s largest and oldest ‘microstock’ photography agencies. We were founded in 2004 on the premise of offering professional yet affordable images, while providing fair commissions for our talented artists.”

Similar to Shutterstock in concept, CanStock Photo provides flexible opportunities from the photography submission end. Photographers, who all work from home, may submit their photo images or clips and sell them on CanStock Photo for commission. Each time your photograph is purchased and downloaded, you make money.

Where to apply: Photographers interested in submitting photographs to sell can learn more and register with them at the CanStock Photo Sell Your Images/Clips Page.

The Bradford Group

The Bradford Group has become a world leader in direct response marketing by bringing together highly talented people in a creative, collaborative environment. Words like ‘inquisitive,’ ‘intellectually curious,’ and “passionate” are often used to describe our employees, and our shared values of innovation and teamwork are what makes our company such an exciting and dynamic place to work.”

You can’t open a magazine without seeing an advertisement from The Bradford Exchange. These are the people who sell beautiful collectible items, from plate to dolls to blankets. But someone has to dream up those beautiful designs and bring them to life. That someone could be you. The Bradford Group is always seeking remote freelancers to work as Doll Artists and Illustrators. They need artists who have a clear “understanding of expressive posing and demonstrate the ability to render realistic features and proportions.”

Where to apply: You are asked to submit a portfolio of copies of your work, which will be given to developers and appraisers. You can learn more about this process from The Bradford Group’s Career Page.

Universal Uclick

Universal Uclick is a merger between Universal Press Syndicate (think: Doonesbury and Ziggy), and Uclick. Today, they “operate as a single powerful media organization designed to help [businesses] reach massive audiences through integrated print, online and mobile products. The lineup we offer is diverse and of exceptional quality, continually serving the popular informational and entertainment needs of our time.”

Are you often told how witty you are; and even more so when you put your comical views into drawings? Universal Uclick is looking for you! Universal Uclick also seeks remote freelance writers and game designers. They cover the gamut on print creativity.

Where to apply: Share you humor and earn some money by visiting the Universal Uclick Submissions Guidelines Page.

Cracked

“We offer heaps of facts smothered in humor. We are the professors you wish you had in school; we are Indiana Jones except with less adventures and more sarcasm.”

If you were one of those kids who destroyed magazine photos by drawing on models’ faces or bodies, you might be just what Cracked is looking for. In fact, you could make some decent money from home doing the same thing you did as a kid, only now the whole world will see what you do! Cracked is seeking freelance artists, Photoshoppers, videographers, and freelance writers to submit irreverent content for their online magazine. A wicked sense of humor and a flare for one of the above areas will get you Cracked’s attention.

Where to apply: Review their examples and register as a creative on Cracked’s Sign Up Page.
