The Director, Technical Accounting and Reporting is a leading role in our Finance organization. They will influence our critical accounting policies and drive internal reporting and communication to executives. They possess the demonstrated expertise in the specialized fields of technical accounting and financial reporting. They have a high propensity to take on new responsibilities in a rapid-growth environment to advance within the finance team.
We looking for someone who can dedicate 30 hours per week.

You will:

    • Lead the company’s technical accounting and reporting team of 2 technical gurus
    • Interface with Management on complex technical accounting matters involved in developing the company’s position on complex, significant, unique, and judgmental accounting topics including preparation of the related technical accounting memos.
    • Research technical accounting and disclosure issues, document and present matters to Management.
    • Proactively monitor current accounting and reporting trends.
    • Lead the Company’s efforts to Implement new or revised accounting pronouncements.
    • Prepare, review and deliver timely and accurate internal reporting documents in accordance with US GAAP and assist with deliverables to assist our parent Company, Illumina, with their external reporting requirements.
    • Review draft contracts and educate stakeholders on accounting implications as well as propose changes to standardize/simplify accounting for such contract
    • Coordinate internal management reviews of information to ensure that all feedback is assimilated into submitted documents and disclosures.
    • Adhere to internal and external review and filing deadlines, including tracking and communication of status.
    • Support annual audit and quarterly reviews, including preparation and review of analytical review documents, to ensure timely and efficient fulfillment of all requests.
    • Partner with business process owners to maintain a strong internal control environment.
    • Provide leadership and training in establishing a SOX compliant control structure.
    • Lead and participate in special projects as necessary.

Your background should include:

      • At least 8 years of highly technical accounting and reporting experience in a mix of medium to large publicly-listed companies and a Big 4 public accounting firm.
      • BA/BS degree in Accounting.
      • Active US CPA certification.
      • Strong knowledge of US GAAP with experience with SEC reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements
      • Strong knowledge of and experience applying Leases (ASC 842), cost to obtain a contract (ASC 340), internally developed software (ASC 350/985), revenue recognition (ASC 606), and carve out transactions required
      • Ability to lead complex projects which require influence and implementation across business groups and functions.
      • Ability to coordinate with internal teams and other third-party consultants on critical accounting and reporting projects.
      • Attention to detail, organized and thorough with the desire for continuous improvement.
      • Must be able to effectively handle critical deadlines.
      • Must be a "self-starter" with a can-do attitude and a serious desire to have a positive impact on our company.
      • Track record of performance in a face-paced, high-pressure environment.
      • Strong day-to-day project management skills.
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
      • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, yet function well with independent responsibilities.
    • Experience with NetSuite is a plus
The expected, full-time, annual base pay scale for this position is $130/hr- $150/hr. Actual pay will consider skills, experience, and location.
Based on the role, colleagues may be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan tied to company and individual performance, or an incentive plan. We also offer a long-term incentive plan to align company and colleague success over time.
